It was a day long awaited for...and one that couldn't be any more special. We started the day with a picnic on Lovell's Island (Boston Harbor Islands). Roy was acting even more strange than usual and Sharon just couldn't understand why. Being the impatient woman she is, Sharon had been looking in the drawer where the original ring setting was kept. For the past month, she was convinced Roy hadn't done anything with the diamond, so the thought that he could be proposing that day was the furthest thing from her mind.

While Sharon was skipping stones by the water, Roy stayed on the blanket, searching around in his backpack. He finally called her over and over she went...still oblivious. Standing up on his knees, he gave her a kiss. Then he shifted to the bended knee position, guaranteed to make any woman's pulse jump! To this day, neither Sharon nor Roy completely remembers what he said. Sharon still couldn't grasp what was actually happening, and she was trying to keep her knees from buckling. When the words "will you marry me?" were spoken, Sharon's first words were.."Is this actually happening?!" As soon as Roy opened the ring box and asked "What do you think?", Sharon's knees gave out...Do you really need to be told what her answer was?

The rest of the day was spent enjoying an opera in the park, and treats in the North End. But nothing could prepare Sharon for what Roy had planned at home. The most beautiful red roses and a bottle of chilled champagne greeted them in the livingroom...thanks to some sneaky planning with Suzanne and Ken Elkind!

There were 2 great things about that day.

  1. It wasn't just a moment, but rather a full day filled with magical memories.
  1. Roy fooled Sharon! The ring she had been staring at for the past month wasn't quite was she believed. The setting was real, but the beautiful diamond in the middle wasn't a diamond at all, but rather a cleverly disguised cubic zirconia. Roy had asked the jewelry store for this favor, because he knew what an impatient, dont-like-any-surprises. woman he was going to marry!
